Kiri Irving made an official Brooklyn home debut against Minnesota, kicking off the 2019/2020 season for both teams, but the Nets fans were left with a sweet-bittersweet taste after that match. The hosts gave the Timberwolves 126:127 after the sequel, and expected to star in the evening all night was the stellar summer replenishment of the New York team.

The former Cleveland and Boston guard started his career on the nets in an incredible way, racking up 50 points in 38 minutes, but missed a shot that could have won his team victory. Kiri scored 17/33 in game via fixed football information shooting (7/14 from the triple), 9/10 from the penalty line, mastered 8 tackles and gave up 7 assists and also made no mistake about staying on the field.

The new addition to the home team improved two records - for the most points scored by a Nets player on debut and for the most points scored by a player for his new team. The first achievement was held by DiAngelo Russell at 30 in 2017 and the second by Kiki Vandeweghe at 47 in 1984.

Karl-Anthony Townes was best for Minnesota with 36 points, 14 rebounds, 3 umbrellas, 3 steals and 3 assists, as well as 7/11 in three-point shooting. Andrew Wiggins added 21 points and Robert Covington stayed on a double-double with 15 points and 9 rebounded balls.

The Nets did not play the best first half possible, trailing by 11 points in the opening 12 minutes and again catching up with a double digit 56:68 on the break. A fantastic third quarter followed, with Brooklyn completely turning things around in its favorand led by 93-88, and after a solid chase in the final score, the two teams did not emerge victorious and ended the regular time 115:115, with Brooklyn managing to lead only once in the extra period, and subsequently Irving missed the last shot at 126:127.

Karis Lavert scored 20 points for the Nets, Thorian Prince scored 15 plus 11 rebounds and Spencer Dinedy got 14 off the bench.
